Maintaining marketing by safeguarding and detoxifying molluscs

Context

Shellfish farming basins are regularly affected by toxic algal blooms of variable duration and concentration according to the types of algae and years. This relatively rapid increase in the concentration of toxic algae is called a "toxic bloom". It is the most frequent cause of shellfish tank closures.

Objective

Providing shellfish farmers at the national level with the means and techniques necessary to address the problem of toxic blooms.

About the project

This study takes into account the particularities of water resources whose origins are specific to each shellfish basin (ground water, decanting water...) to develop a process adapted to all types of basins. These studies are supplemented by a process cost estimate to validate the economic feasibility of the process. Finally, it is essential to consider multi-activity procedures in order to tend towards the best possible amortization of infrastructures outside crisis periods.
