Development and comparison of two methods for measuring macular pigment in the prevention of age-related macular degeneration (AMD)

Context

In France, nearly 1.3 million people suffer from Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), a particularly disabling eye disease, depriving the subjects of central vision. It hinders their reading, driving or watching television. It is the leading cause of blindness in people over the age of 50. Early detection limits the progression of the disease.

Objective

Comparing two methods of measuring macular pigment in order to develop a protocol for early identification of people at risk of AMD.

This project would make it possible to provide the Hauts-de-France Region in the long term with state-of-the-art equipment for effective screening of people at risk of AMD.
