AGREENFISH
To facilitate the feed transition (carnivorous to vegetable diet) of farmed fish
Context
The growth of world aquaculture and the need for the preservation of natural marine resources require changing the composition of feed for farmed fish towards more sustainable formulas (plants, insects...).
Objective
Developing selection procedures to promote the adaptation of carnivorous species to plant nutrition through genetic selection.
About the project
The AGREENFISH project aims to study this dietary transition in a carnivorous species through genetic selection. Using rainbow trout lineage, the ambition of the project is to:
● Decipher the adaptation mechanisms, both short and long term.
● Find markers of adaptation that will enhance the efficiency of selection to obtain fish adapted to new foods.
