Restitution of the OXYVIR project: how to estimate the infectious character of noroviruses in shellfish?

On Monday, September 14, 2020, the partners of the FEAMP OXYVIR project met to present the results of their research carried out over 3 years. The event was held by videoconference and was attended by about 60 participants, including many professionals from the shellfish industry.

Introduced by Angeline PIGNON, deputy director of AQUIMER, the event was organized around presentations by Nicolas Boudaud (Actalia), OXYVIR project coordinator and Christophe Gantzer (LCPME), project partner. They outlined the different research axes of the project:

  • identification of the molecular keys responsible for the inactivation of viruses;
  • Advantages and limitations of using tissue-typing antigens to select infectious noroviruses;
  • interest of F-specific RNA phases as indicators of norovirus hazard in shellfish

The meeting closed with a virtual round table discussion bringing together Nicolas Boudaud (ACTALIA), Charlotte Chabanne (DGAL), Christophe Gantzer (LCPME), Audrey Lainé (CNC) Jean Yves Le Goff (CNC), Didier Majou (ACTIA), Laurent Vedrenne (Spéciales Gillardeau). Participants were able to share their suggestions and expectations for this project. The project partners also expressed their wish to deepen their research in an OXYVIR 2 project.
