EATIP FRANCE : new meeting with the French aquaculture sector
AQUIMER is the French Mirror Platform (MiP) of the EATIP, the European Aquaculture Technology and Innovation Platform. As a MiP, AQUIMER organises regular workshops with the French aquaculture sector in order to identify new needs at the national level and present EATIP activities and discuss together about new ideas of activities for the development of the sector.
The 5th Meeting of EATIP FRANCE was held on the 15th of November in the presence of the General Secretary, Mr David Bassett.
Margherita Vece, responsible at AQUIMER for European funding opportunities, projects and networks, presented the relevant topics for the sector under the 2nc Horizon Europe Call with its deadline on the 15th of February. Among others : the HORIZON-CL6-2022-FARM2FORK-01-05: Integrated and sustainable freshwater bioeconomy: Combining aquaculture, biodiversity preservation, biotechnology and other uses; HORIZON-CL6-2022-FARM2FORK-02-05-two-stage: Innovative food from marine and freshwater ecosystems; HORIZON-CL6-2022-FARM2FORK-01-06: Biosecurity, hygiene, disease prevention and animal welfare in aquaculture; and the HORIZON-CL6-2022-FARM2FORK-01-07: Building alternative protein-friendly sustainable and healthy food environments.
After a general presentation of EATIP objectives and goals and the network of EATIP MiP, Mr Bassett presented the ongoing and planned activities, the close collaboration with the EU and the opportunities of engagement of the French aquaculture stakeholders in EATIP initiatives. In particular, he illustrated the ongoing EATIP-EU collaboration for a Smart Specialisation Platform for the aquaculture sector, the recently launched European partnerships of Horizon Europe and the upcoming EATIP workshop on anti-microbial resistance.
Finally, Doriane Stagnol, Aquaculture Project Manager at AQUIMER, informed the audience about the EATIP role and the progress made in AQUAEXCEL 3.0. AQUAEXCEL 3.0 is a 10-million Horizon 2020 project which started a year ago and will end in October 2025. It builds on the previous AQUAEXCEL and AQUAEXCEL2020 projects to further ensure research is aligned with aquaculture industry needs, develop new tools to keep pace with the rapid scientific development and add value to existing tools and resources to benefit all users.
