What is the nature of your business?

ICTYOS is a Lyon-based startup company that combines the traditional know-how of a French tannery with an eco-responsible approach by transforming fish skins from the food industry into very high quality marine leathers.

Who are your products/services aimed at?

ICTYOS offers a service of marine skins revalorization to all types of sector players wishing to valorize their marine skins co-products.
Our teams ensure the transformation of these skins into leather on already 4 species, carp, salmon, sturgeon and trout with the will to develop a complete leather chain by innovating with a new leather each year.

We market the leathers through two offers:
ICTYOS marine leather ranges, on sale on our website to various Luxury Houses, Designers, Workshops, brands or craftsmen;
through contract tanning, providing a service of transformation of skins into leather for our partners, and being able to assist you until the creation of leather goods for a committed and eco-circular diversification.

Why are innovation and research important in your industry?

The fashion industry is in the midst of a major rethink and is looking for virtuous alternatives.
At the heart of our DNA, ICTYOS has been investing in R&D since its creation in 2018:

  • in the search for new value-adding partners,
  • in the creation of vegetable tanning processes for new marine skins,
  • in the continuous improvement and optimization of tanning processes.

The many synergies between the AQUIMER cluster and its members allow to catalyze this innovative approach of revalorization and creation of new products.
