Valorization of Co-products from the Food Industry

Context

A co-product is a material, unintentional and unavoidable, created during the same manufacturing process and at the same time as the main product. Sometimes the co-product cannot be valorized directly and entirely, but it will contain molecules of interest that can be extracted and purified to be used in different sectors to replace synthetic or petroleum-based molecules.

Objective

Studying the valorization of by-products from the food industry sectors.

About the project

Initially, the project will allow for taking inventory of molecules of interest (with high added value) present on the market. It also aims to draw up an inventory of available resources by sector (co-products from plant or marine products). This step leads to a selection of pairs of molecules of interest/co-product per sector. In a second step, the project allows industry operators to develop new projects based on the extraction of these molecules.
