Development of new products to improve the memory and well-being of senior citizens through nutrient supplementation

Context

Nutrition is one of the new research paths for acting preventively on cerebral ageing and Alzheimer's disease. This is a public health issue that would delay the dependency of the elderly in our society. Trout is a species rich in nutrients of interest, whose health effects suggest an opportunity in the functional-food and dietary supplement markets.

About the project

The project activities aim at developing an oil extraction and packing process, suited to the quality requirements and the needs of the companies (volumes, types of co-products...). Ultimately, it aims at producing fish oil of regional origin with full traceability. A clinical study is carried out in order to prove that consumption of the product allows for obtaining the expected results on the target population.
