SMART AQUAPONICS : the final event

The restitution of the "Smart Aquaponics" project was presented in Boulogne sur mer on the 28th of October, organised by Aquimer and hosted by NAUSICAA.

Smart Aquaponics is a cross-border cooperation project (Interreg France-Wallonia-Vlaanderen) which aims to facilitate the development of aquaponics, by creating intelligent management tools for aquaponics systems suitable for professionals, urban communities and training.

The restitution of the project brought together a variety of professionals from the aquaponics sector who shared their points of view on the innovative systems developed during Smart Aquaponics. Indeed, this meeting sparked challenging reflections on new tools for aquaponics systems, the efficient sharing of knowledge from the project and new feedback from existing facilities such as L’EchoVillage, Aquaponic Management Project and Aqua4C.

“Thanks to Smart Aquaponics, project leaders will be able to perform simulations of aquaponics systems and test different combinations of fish and plants farms. The digital tools and sensors developed in this project are also adaptable to existing farms, thus allowing an optimized and easier monitoring of the production parameters. Education professionals will also have access to training modules to educate new generations in this recent technique » stated Dr. Pierre Raulier, Project Coordinator at the University of Liège.
