6th meeting of the CIRCALGAE project in Ghent

On 31 March and 1 April, the CIRCALGAE project partners met in Ghent for the 6th project meeting. Hosted by the Bio Base Pilot Plant (BBPP), a key partner in the project, they reviewed the progress of the various work packages, exchanged ideas and defined the next strategic steps together.

The CIRCALGAE project aims to develop co-products from algae in three main areas: animal feed, human food and cosmetics. The meeting was punctuated by the presentation of several prototypes developed within this framework, offering a sensory and gustatory immersion through a selection of innovative products: snacks, granolas, infusions, cosmetic treatments, and even sausages made from seaweed.

Alongside the technical work, a guided tour of Ghent's canals enabled participants to discover the city's rich historical heritage, highlighting the canal's central role in its urban development.

The first day ended with a convivial dinner, encouraging exchanges between partners.

Finally, participants were able to take advantage of their presence at BBPP to visit the site's technical facilities, in particular the fermenters and equipment dedicated to the development and processing of biomass.
