• European Seafood Exposition 2012
The Pole AQUIMER was present at the European Seafood Exposition held in Brussels from the 24th to the 26th April 2012. Sharing a spacious stand in the French Pavilion in hall 5 with the 'Nouvelles Vagues' Innovation Platform, the Pole AQUIMER team welcomed businesses and visitors throughout the exhibition and explained the possibilities for obtaining funding and expertise for any collaborative research and development project offered by the only French Pole of Competitiveness dedicated to aquatic products and their promotion.
A highlight in the life of the Pole was the cocktail reception which allowed its members' products to be sampled and which welcomed around one hundred people, hosted by Mr Delpierre and Mr Missonnier, Chairman and Director of the AQUIMER Pole of competitiveness respectively, and all the Pole's team.

The 2012 edition of the European Seafood Exposition welcomed 1600 exhibitors from 90 countries. In terms of trends, innovations are overwhelmingly dominated by snack food and on-the-go consumption that were particularly numerous this year.
The innovative products can be seen on the AQUIMER Watch Centre internet site.
• Co-design workshop April 17th 2012
The AQUIMER Pole of Competitiveness participated actively in the co-design workshop organised by Certia Interface and the 'Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie Côte d'Opale', on April 17th 2012 at the Boulogne-sur-Mer CCICO . Led by the ISA (Institut Supérieur d'Agriculture de Lille), businesses from the agri-food sector were able to discover a fun and effective method used in Research and Development.
Through collective brainstorming sessions, using information obtained through watch and role-plays involving company departments and external partners (Production, Research and Development, Management, Marketing, Suppliers, Distributors, Consumers?), new products can be developed.
In addition to stimulating the imagination without self-censorship, co-design enables us to limit the risks with regard to putting innovative products onto the market.
A second co-design workshop will be held on Wednesday June 6th 2012 from 2 pm to 6.15 pm at the Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie Côte d'Opale de Dunkerque, 512, avenue de l'Université.
Register with Anne Macqueron, Certia Interface, by fax on 0320435472 or by e-mail Anne.Macqueron@lille.inra.fr

• Signing of a « Memorandum of Understanding » (MoU) with the Japanese cluster « NOASTEC » from Hokkaido
On March 23rd last in Paris, the Chairmen of the AQUIMER, VALORIAL and VITAGORA Poles of Competitiveness, formalised their co-operation with NOASTEC, the Japanese cluster (Hokkaido island), represented by M. SUZUKI, with the signing of an MoU.
With their complimentary expertise, for the past two years the three French poles have been developing a common action with regard to Japan. During the missions taking place within the framework of the Ubifrance/DGCIS convention, AQUIMER is naturally particularly interested in the promotion of aquatic products. In this domain, the Japanese (the biggest consumers of aquatic products in the world) are highly important partners.
NOASTEC (Northern Advancement Center for Science and Technology) brings together two clusters which develop new activities in the fields of food and biotechnologies.
The MoU formalises the intent to undertake exchanges between their networks of businesses and research and training centres. A timetable for meetings is to be scheduled (next meeting in June 2012) in order to develop common research projects.
This partnership, which adds to Pôle AQUIMER's international influence, provides access to a wide network of Japanese businesses and research centres.
